Robert P. Murphy is a Senior Fellow at the Fraser Institute and Chief Economist at Infineo and author of the widely acclaimed book,
Choice: Cooperation, Enterprise, and Human Action. He is also a Senior Fellow with the Mises Institute. He received his Ph.D. in economics from New York University. Previous positions include Research Assistant Professor with the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University, Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at Hillsdale College, Senior Economist at the Institute for Energy Research, Visiting Scholar at New York University, Research Analyst at Laffer Associates, and Senior Fellow in Business and Economic Studies at the Pacific Research Institute. Prof. Murphy runs the blog, Free Advice and hosts the podcast, The Bob Murphy Show. He is the author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism, The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal, The Study Guide to Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market, The Human Action Study Guide, The Study Guide to The Theory of Money & Credit by Ludwig von Mises, and Lessons for the Young Economist. Ross McKitrick
Professor of Economics, University of Guelph
Ross R. McKitrick is a Professor of Economics at the University of Guelph and a Senior Fellow of the Fraser Institute. He
is the author of Economic Analysis of Environmental Policy published by the University of Toronto Press in 2010. He has been actively studying climate change, climate policy and environmental economics since the mid-1990s. He built and published one of the first national-scale Computable General Equilibrium models for analysing the effect of carbon taxes on the Canadian economy in the 1990s. His academic publications have appeared in many top journals including the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Journal of Geophysical Research, Climate Dynamics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, The Canadian Journal of Economics, Canadian Public Policy, Energy Economics, Journal of Forecasting, Climatic Change, Climate Change Economics and Environmental Economics and Policy Studies. He has also written policy analyses for numerous Canadian and international think tanks. Professor McKitrick appears frequently in Canadian and international media and is a regular contributor to the Financial Post Comment page. In addition to his economics research his background in applied statistics has led him to collaborative work across a wide range of topics in the physical sciences including paleoclimate reconstruction, malaria transmission, surface temperature measurement and climate model evaluation. Professor McKitrick has made many invited academic presentations around the world, and has testified before the US Congress and committees of the Canadian House of Commons and Senate. Professor McKitrick is widely-cited in Canada and around the world as an expert on global warming and environmental policy issues. He has been interviewed by Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, the CBC, BBC, ITV, Fox News, Bloomberg, Global TV, CTV, and others. Russell S. Sobel
Professor of Economics & Entrepreneurship, Baker School of Business at The Citadel
Russell S. Sobel is Professor of Economics & Entrepreneurship in the Baker School of Business at The Citadel in his
hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Florida State University in 1994. He is co-editor of the Southern Economic Journal and is a member of the editorial boards for the journals Public Choice and the Journal of Entrepreneurship & Public Policy. He serves as a Regional Advisory Committee Member for the South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office Board of Economic Advisors. He is the recipient of numerous awards for both his teaching and research including the Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teaching Award from the Southern Economic Association, the Georgescu-Roegen Prize for Best Article of the Year in the Southern Economic Journal, the Association of Private Enterprise Education Distinguished Scholar Award, and the Sir Antony Fisher International Memorial Award for his book Unleashing Capitalism. He has produced over two dozen Ph.D. students, most of which have gone on to pursue distinguished academic careers. He is the author or coauthor of over 250 academic journal articles and books including Growth and Variability in State Tax Revenue: An Anatomy of State Fiscal Crises, The Rule of Law, Unleashing Capitalism, and The Essential Joseph Schumpeter. His publications have appeared in a wide variety of academic journals including the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Law and Economics, Public Choice, Journal of Business Venturing, Small Business Economics, and Economic Inquiry. His research has been featured in many leading news outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, Investor’s Business Daily, The Economist Magazine, The Financial Post, CNBC, and the CBS Evening News. Steven Globerman
Senior Fellow and Addington Chair in Measurement, Fraser Institute
Mr. Steven Globerman is a Senior Fellow and Addington Chair in Measurement at the Fraser Institute. Previously, he held tenured
appointments at Simon Fraser University and York University and has been a visiting professor at the University of California, University of British Columbia, Stockholm School of Economics, Copenhagen School of Business, and the Helsinki School of Economics.He has published more than 200 articles and monographs and is the author of the book The Impacts of 9/11 on Canada-U.S. Trade as well as a textbook on international business management. In the early 1990s, he was responsible for coordinating Fraser Institute research on the North American Free Trade Agreement.In addition, Mr. Globerman has served as a researcher for two Canadian Royal Commissions on the economy as well as a research advisor to Investment Canada on the subject of foreign direct investment. He has also hosted management seminars for policymakers across North America and Asia.Mr. Globerman was a founding member of the Association for Cultural Economics and is currently a member of the American and Canadian Economics Associations, the Academy of International Business, and the Academy of Management.He earned his BA in economics from Brooklyn College, his MA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his PhD from New York University.
