John Williamson is currently the Director of Communication in the Prime Minister's Office. He has studied at the London School of Economics and was named a Chevening scholar by the British government's Foreign & Commonwealth Office. John is also a fellow with the Manning Centre for Building Democracy and recipient of a Humane Studies Fellowship from the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University. John is the past national director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, the country's leading non-partisan taxpayer research and advocacy organization. He is also a former National Post editorial writer and a founding member of the paper's Editorial Board. His public policy work has focused primarily on taxation, government spending, parliamentary reform, and political developments in Canada, the United States and the Far East. His opinion columns are regularly printed in the National Post and other daily newspapers across Canada. Born and raised in New Brunswick, John studied economics and government at McGill University in Montreal. After graduation, employment with a financial institution took him to Toronto and Hong Kong.
