Nancy Southern
Nancy Southern was appointed Chair, President & CEO of ATCO Ltd. and Canadian Utilities Limited in 2012. Previously, she was President & CEO as well as Deputy Chair of both corporations. Ms. Southern serves on the Boards of all the ATCO Group subsidiary companies and is a Director of AKITA Drilling Ltd. and Sentgraf Enterprises Limited. She is a member of The U.S. Business Council, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the Trilateral Commission, and was appointed by the Hon. Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, as a member of his Economic Advisory Council. Ms. Southern also serves as Executive Vice President of Spruce Meadows, renowned as one of the worlds finest show-jumping facilities and is an Honorary Director of the BMO Financial Group.
In 2005, Ms. Southern was selected Business Woman of the Year by the Consumers Choice Awards and in 2011 she was selected as Business Person of the Year by Alberta Venture Magazine. In 2012, Ms. Southern was named an honorary Chief of the Kainai (Blood Tribe of Alberta) and given the name Aksistoowapaakii (Brave Woman). In October 2012, Canadas Public Policy Forum awarded Ms. Southern The Peter Lougheed Award for Leadership in Public Policy.
Born and raised in Calgary, Ms. Southern studied Economics and Commerce at the University of Calgary.
