Kenneth Michael Sumanik received his B.Sc. (1963), his Teaching Certificate (1964) and his M.Sc., Biology (1966) from the University of Alberta. He was a member of many committees and organizations such as Clayoquot Sound Sustainable Development Strategy Committee, Standing Committee on Environmental Control and Reclamation, Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs, Third Party Advisory Group, Cross Sectoral Committee, Business Coalition, Third Party Interest Group involved in the Delgamuukw (Gitksan) Appeal, and the Nisga Update Committee. He was director of the British Columbia Conservation Foundation (1987-1990). Mr. Sumanik was also a Director for British Columbia Forestry Association and the Director of Environment and Land Use for the Mining Association of British Columbia.
