Allan Markin
Chairman, Canadian Natural Resources
Allan P. Markin (O.C., A.O.E., B.Sc., P.Eng., LL.D. (hon)) is Chairman of Canadian Natural Resources Limited, a position he has held since 1989.
Through his philanthropy, Mr. Markin created the Markin Chair in Health Promotion at the University of Calgary and continues to form partnerships between the public and private sectors to improve health care for Albertans. Mr. Markin also supports education and the arts, having created the Distinguished Writers in Residence Program at the University of Calgary, among other initiatives.
Mr. Markin has been recognized with the Order of Canada, the Alberta Order of Excellence, and a place in the Calgary Business Hall of Fame. He received honorary degrees from the universities of Calgary, Alberta, Lethbridge, St. Francis Xavier, and an honorary fellowship from St. Marys University College. He was named Calgarys Citizen of the Year in 2004.
