Robert Strother
Robert C. Strother was a tax partner at Davis & Company, Vancouver, British Columbia when his chapter in this book was written. A Sir James Dunn Scholar, Mr. Strother graduated as the Gold Medallist in Law from Dalhousie Law School in 1974 and obtained a Masters of Law from Harvard Law School in 1975. Thereafter, he practiced tax law in Houston, Texas and London, England. He practiced as a tax partner with two large Vancouver firms before joining Davis & Company in November, 1990.
Mr. Strother was called to the bar in Alberta in 1978, in British Columbia in 1981, and in the Yukon in 1992. Mr. Strother practises law in the areas of Taxation, Aboriginal Law and Corporate/Commercial law.
Mr. Strother has taught as an adjunct professor of law at UBC Law School and at the University of Alberta. He has lectured extensively for the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Continuing Legal Education Society for British Columbia, the Canadian Institute, and Insight Educational Services. He has written numerous nationally published articles on taxation and has addressed the general session of the Annual Conference of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Mr. Strother has been the tax and financial advisor in three northern land claims and is counsel to the Union of New Brunswick Indians in respect of a challenge to the provincial sales tax law and also in respect of comprehensive land claim matters.
