Hal Kvisle
Hal Kvisle (pronounced KWIZ'LEE) was born in Innisfail, Alberta in 1952. He received a bachelor of science in engineering withdistinction from the University of Alberta in 1975 and an MBA from the University of Calgary in 1982.In 1999, Kvisle was recruited by TransCanada PipeLines Limited to be its executive vice-president in trading and business development. In 2001, he was appointed president and chief executive officer.Kvisle is former chair of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and is former chair of the Mount Royal College board of governors. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Montreal.TransCanada Pipelines Limited notified its employees on April 15, 2010 that Kvisle would retire as president and CEO of TransCanada, effective June 30, 2010. Succeeding him will be the current chief operating officer Russ Girling, who will assume the new position on July 1, 2010.Prior to TransCanada, from 1990 to 1999, he employed at Fletcher Challenge Energy Canada Inc. (FCE) , where he held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, FCE Americas, and President, FCE Canada and was responsible for the initiation and growth of FCE's successful Canadian upstream business and its early-stage ventures in Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico. He has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1975 and in the utilities and power industries since 1999. Mr. Kvisle worked at Dome Petroleum as a Petroleum Engineer ,Engineering Manager and Finance Manager. He has been a Director of TransCanada Corp. since 2001. He has been a Director of PrimeWest Energy Inc., a subsidiary of PrimeWest Energy Trust since 1996. He has been Independent Director of Talisman Energy Inc. since May 2010. He has been a Director of Bank of Montreal (can). since February 22, 2005. He serves as Director of ARC Energy Management Ltd., Manager of ARC Strategic Energy Fund. He served as a Director of Pacifica Papers Inc. (Canada) since November 28, 1997. Mr. Kvisle has been Director of ARC Energy Trust since May 20, 2009. Mr. Kvisle served as Director of ARC Energy Trust. He served as a Director of Catalyst Paper Corp. (formerly Norske Skog Canada Ltd.) since November 28, 1997. In addition, at different times during the period from 2000 to 2004, Mr. Kvisle served as a Director of ARC Strategic Energy Fund. He serves as Chair of Interstate P. Eng. National Gas Association of America and Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mount Calgary, Alberta Royal College. In 2004, he was the first Canadian ever elected as Chairman of the Board of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of Americas (INGAA) and served as Chair of the Mount Royal College Board of Governors.He presently sits on the INGAA Board. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the worldwide Society of Petroleum Engineers, the University of Calgary Haskayne School MBA Associates, and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. Mr. Kvisle has a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Engineering from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary in 1982.
